AR Goals

I have had many parents ask about their children's AR goal. This is made by the Early Elementary team. We come up with their goal depending on what they scored on their STAR reading test. Goals can changes as the year progresses. We have already changed a few students. We have made weekly goals to make it easier for the students and teachers. This is part of their reading grade. If students do not make their AR goal by Thursday at 3:00 PM they will loose free dress, but can earn Fun Friday. Parents help your child receive their AR goal by listening to them read 20 minutes each night.

Thank you,

Mrs. Fallis

Questions I wanted to ask but...

Have you ever had a question you were dying to ask but didn’t want to seem like the only one with the question? There are no dumb questions! I have listed some questions that have been asked by previous parents. I hope these might answer any questions that you might have.

1. Mrs. Fallis how did you come up with the goal made for my child in AR? There is a formula that we were given last year in a training with from Renaissance Place. You figure out how many class minutes they have to spend daily on reading along with their ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development).

2. Is homework due every day? Yes, your child will have reading, spelling, and math due daily.

3. How does my child earn free dress and Fun Friday? They must turn in all assignments given that week, finished their AR goal, and not had three yellows, two oranges, or any reds. If they have not met their goal they can earn Fun Friday, but loose free dress. I will send home a note if they have not earned either on Thursday. Check the homework log.
